The classic 5 day bodybuilding split is arguably the most famous routine for bodybuilders or anyone looking to put on a serious amount of muscle. For this reason, I can't help but feel the need to share with you the 5 day split as it was originally designed. My goal is to keep this the same length as the first four months of bodybuilding but expand it on the sixth and seventh days to help you keep your strength and muscle while maintaining an extremely steady calorie intake. It is all about creating the ideal training environment with a mix of bodyweight and bodybuilding exercises in order to maximize your results in the long haul. I strongly recommend working on the strength and size gains in your upper torso between the three weeks of bodybuilding and then progress to the more advanced exercises you need to focus on at that time. This is why I would recommend starting the six week cycle on day 4. For example if you plan on doing bodyweight pull ups, upper body pull ups or chest fly presses on the last two days, you could keep your calorie intake as follows: Week Day 1 – 1250 calories Week Day 2 – 1300 calories Week Day 3 – 1250 calories Week Day 4 – 1300 calories Day 6 – 1200 calories In order to keep your nutrition on track from start to finish, your food should be prepped ahead of time to include: 4 x 3 egg whites/egg yolks – 300 calories per 3 eggs 4 x 12 oz. of lean boneless chicken breast – 350 calories 12 oz. of ground beef – 300 calories 3.5 cups of brown rice – 400 calories 2 oz. of spinach for a serving – 200 calories 1/2 Tbsp. of sesame oil for every 1 tablespoon of olive oil – 500 calories 1/4 c. vanilla paste for the dressing – 50 calories 1 Tbsp. pure vanilla extract for brushing your teeth – 50 calories 1 Tbsp. peanut butter for brushing your teeth – 150 calories The following are specific foods we are going to include to keep our calorie intake within the ideal ranges – these are just some general recommendations: 1) 2 small patties (5 lb. fat) 2) 1 Tbsp. peanut butter 3) 1 C. water 3) 1 slice of white bread and 1 1/2 C. olive oil 4) 2 large eggs plus 2 large yolks 4) 1/2 large cooked chicken breast 4) 2 Tbsp. chopped fresh spinach for 1 serving 4 Related Article:
